Privacy Policy
In short
We collect your school email, the subjects/tiers you pick, and the messages you send to Newman (our AI helper) so the Revision Hub can work for you. We don't sell your data, and we don't show you adverts. Only the people who need to (us, and the tech companies that host the site) can see it. If you're not sure about something, ask a teacher or email us — the address is at the bottom of this page.
Who we are
The Revision Hub is provided by Sernio ("we", "us") for students at Cardinal Newman Catholic School. If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at landythepheonix@gmail.com.
What we collect

| Your password (if you use one) | Stored securely (hashed, never in plain text) so you can sign back in. If you sign in with Google, we never see a password at all. |
| Subjects and tiers you select | So the Hub shows you the right materials, past papers, and revision plan. |
| Messages you send to Newman (the AI chat) | To generate a helpful reply. Some anonymised question/answer pairs may be cached to keep the service fast and affordable — please don't share personal information in chat messages. |
| Basic technical data (e.g. IP address) | Used briefly to prevent abuse of the chat (rate limiting) — not used to build a profile of you. |
| Device preferences (dark mode, text size, etc.) | Stored on your own device only, to remember how you like the site to look. |
Who we share it with
We use a small number of trusted service providers to run the Hub. They only process your data to provide their specific service to us — they don't use it for their own purposes.
- Supabase — stores your account and login details, hosted in the UK/EU.
- Anthropic — powers Newman's AI replies when you chat with it. Anthropic is based in the United States, so chat messages may be processed there.
- Vercel — hosts the website itself.
- Google — only if you choose "Continue with Google" to sign in; Google confirms your identity but doesn't see your subjects, tiers, or chat messages.
We never sell your data, and we don't use it for advertising.
Where your data is stored
Your account data is stored in the UK/EU. Because Newman's AI replies are generated by a US-based provider (Anthropic), chat message content may be transferred to and processed in the United States for that specific purpose, under appropriate data protection safeguards.
How long we keep it
We keep your account data for as long as you have an account with us. If you leave the school or ask us to delete your account, we'll remove your personal data within a reasonable time, except where we need to keep something for a legal reason.
Your rights
You (or a parent/guardian on your behalf) can ask us at any time to:
- See what data we hold about you
- Correct anything that's wrong
- Delete your account and data
You can delete your own account and data at any time from Settings → Delete Account (this permanently removes your account immediately — it can't be undone). For anything else, just email us at the address above and we'll sort it out.
Keeping you safe
Newman is an AI assistant, not a teacher — please don't share sensitive personal information (like health details, home address, or anything you wouldn't want a stranger to read) in a chat message. If Newman ever says something that seems wrong, unsafe, or inappropriate, please tell a teacher or contact us straight away.
Changes to this policy
If we make significant changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page and let the school know.
